For the past 2 years, Midland teachers have collected  boots and books for needy families in our community through our annual Boots and Books drive. Each year MCEA members collected about 70 pairs of boots and about 100 books.  MCEA teachers plan to collect an even greater number of boots this year. Each pair of boots will be paired with at least one book that is an appropriate reading level for a child who wears that size boot. "We know that providing a warm pair of boots will get kids out in the snow and being active this winter.  Then, we want them to come inside and snuggle up with a good book," said Boots and Books chair Tricia Clancy.  The boots and books will be collected from October 22 through November 12.  The items will be donated to the community clothes closets at West Midland Family Center, North Midland Family Center and the Caregiving Network to be distributed to those who need them.
